LF Cochin

We have a ten week old LF Cochin that was sold to us (hatchery) as a pullet. We’ve been told recently that it is a roo. What do you think?

Also for good measure, the Lavender is also supposed to be a pullet which we think she is. But the comb and wattles are the same now as the partridge colored one. Could I get a little clarification please? I’ve never had LF Cochins. Thank you!

Yeah, they look like roos to me.

Keep in mind the partridge is far more upright and still at 10 weeks is not completely 100% feathered (mostly a little downy in the saddle area). The lavender has been fully feathered for weeks. But each came from a different hatchery.

But the Lavender chick looks very feminine and acts more feminine than either of the other two. Though they have been more rowdy since about 3 weeks, challenging everybody, but we figured that was the pecking order and their also a week older than the rest.

At 10 weeks, a Cochin pullet should not have such large wattles and neither comb or wattles should be red.

It may act more "feminine" because the other is more dominant.

Oh... well, that’s a real shame. Have never had Cochins before, but she will be staying for sure either way. They are so sweet, and we were going to keep one rooster anyways.

I don't have the eye for gender in chickens, but my only roo is a cochin and he's the biggest, sweetest, and goofiest baby in my yard. He's a real gem and an eye catcher for sure! I've had people drive by and stop to ask about him! He's HUGE!
