Lf Lavender Araucana chicks 2nd round ***USA***

They're just beautiful. Congrats! I dont know too much about araucana, but do they breed true, as in always rumpless? Or do you get a mix? I just love the lavender color, I got lav ameraucanas this past spring and I'm hooked on the color and the breed

Hey Cindy,

Araucanas are a blue egg laying, rumpless chicken, there are a few Araucana breeders in canada, i used to raise buff and white Araucanas, but now only have 1 white hen. If you did get some chicks from jody or wilds of pa (sorry don't know his name) let me know i may see if i can sneek some of there black orps in... Hehe PM me Cindy and we can talk about maybe spliting import costs etc of eggs

C.

OMG, DH would have a fit if I started up again with shipping eggs and hatching, am waiting now on shipped eggs to hatch, not going great, but may get some Lavender Orps out of it. None of the Blue Orp eggs made it to lockdown. I would love some Black Orps though, hmmm, where are you? No problem getting hatching eggs to Canada from the US, as long as the shipper gets the export permit from USDA, but not many will do that. How about it?? Anyone out there want to help us dear Canadians out?? Let us know.

In the Annapolis valley, i don't think to far from you

Sorry for hijacking

AmyJ, they breed just as any araucana would or does.. Each bird carrys a trait as it should, and how one lines the breeders up. I never breed tuft to tuft here. its always clean faced to tufts. right now we have

pen #1 a Lavender clean faced rumpless roo over, lavender clean faced rumples hens

pen #2 a lavender double tufted tailed roo over, lavender clean faced rumpless hens

pen #3 a Lavender clean faced Rumpless roo over lavender tufted tailed hens

Ok, gotcha, thanks. Breeding tufted to tufted is not a good thing, right? Thanks for answering

Yes its best not to if you want lots more chicks, quess some breed that way but i personally never found it very successful in large chick hatches.

breeding the way we have are pens set up you get tufts and rumpless and all in between. however breeding rumpless to rumpless can still have tailed to or partial tailed chicks but less likely.

another fresh batch of LF Lav araucana brooding with black orps.. was a good hatch on these again..Look close lots of tufts in this group at least 50% have tufts"the modifier really works", i believe 3 are tufted and rumpless dressed in the lavender..also They are big chicks to boot to....

Any chance you might consider shipping eggs in the spring?? If so, plz pm me.........

I want some too! I'm sure those are gonna be some beauties! You guys have so many gorgeous birds (great website too). I think Lavender in the LF Araucanas is going to be amazing. I, personally, prefer the look of the non-tufted. I have had and like some birds that are tufted, but overall I generally like the non-tufted better. Good for you! I am glad to see you are making progress. I think working on the non-standard colors is what makes the hobby really fun and interesting.

Yes and absolutely we will have eggs come spring next year.. the chicks you see now some of which will become next year breeders should really enhance these birds all together.

I also love the look of the rumpless birds, but still like to see the tufts as well esp when double tufted. the lavender really does look good on the araucana i think to.
