LG 9300 what do I do with the plastic temp reader during lockdown?

The plastic square that you lay on top of the eggs that is supposed to read the temp, what should I do with this during lockdown? Right now I just shoved it to the side?

What I did with mine right or wrong was took it off the plastic.

Zip tied it to the wires from control to heater. Bent it to the right height and distance to get temp I wanted.

Stays out of the way. Because when it was on the plastic a slight move changed my temp to much for my liking.
