LG still air

JUst checked my LG still air that had the spike yesterday night to 105ish. I have two thermometers in there and can see both from the windows. One is reading 101 and the other is reading 102. Yesterday they were nearly the same so something fishy may be going on. I'll try to keep them both where they are at hoping the difference is 101.5 ish and keep everyone posted.

GUY !!!!!! have you not read one of my posts I take you havent or you would have seen I was trying to find the highest it would do and it didnt matter if the thermometer was correct or not

I read your posts in THIS thread and perhaps your communication was not clear enough--I got none of what you just said from what you wrote in this thread. What does cranking up the thermostat to get a maximum temp have to do with helping the OP get better results with his/her still air? And, by the way, I'm not a GUY nor an "old" hen.

ETA: if you are saying you are female rather than calling me a guy, which is what I got from that post of yours, there is no way anyone would know that unless you posted your first name somewhere. Of course I haven't read all of your posts-we have well over 70,000 members on BYC. Back to the original subject now....

My problem with the LG was that thing they call a thermostat, mine never stayed on temp. but the heating element in it worked great in my homemade cabinet bator, running on a wafer thermostat, not that plastic box it was hooked to, it went in the dump.

I agree with you. It seems that some people like to post answers and get off the OP and i honestly have no idea how arguing helps anyone

. I am one that really would like the best answers and help with hatching as i am new to hatching chicks and to BYC. I think the more info people put about the OP and their experience is what helps me the most. I enjoy reading everyones take on the subject at hand but try to read to get the best result for me and my chicks

Do more eggs in the bator raise the temps?

why did you even have to put "GUY" in it anywhere this is supposed to be gender neutral site it doesnt matter anywhere the nick name is barefoottrims not barefoot guy

I also use the LG still air and was new to hatching and my rates were horribe in the beginning. I have been messing around with things and have gotten my rates up to about 80 – 85% success rate. My issues were humidity levels. My LG holds temps very well but my humidity was all over the place. I then ran the incubaor dry, bought a humidifyer for the room the bator was in and that seemed to really help to keep the humidity at a more constant level. I run it at 30% days 1-18 and then add water to the bator to ^ to 70% on days 19-21. Thanks to all the help on here this has really helped my rates! I do keep my thermometer at 99.5 degrees but I do lay the thermometer on the bator floor and not on top of the eggs so the top of eggs would be at approx 101.
But doing these things really help my hatch rate!

I haven't seen that much difference whether the bator was full or just half-full. Could be that a full bator will raise the air temp just slightly, though.

Thanks everyone who wanted to help
