You can trash it there! LOL. I have 7 of them now and love every danged one of them.......of course, if I would have known I would have 7 of them, I would have bought a sportsman for close to the same price!

One thing, get a dimmer knob from Wal-mart for 97 cents and put it on the temperature dial. It really helps when trying to get the temp stable and does not require as much twisting to get it to go up or down. I would not touch it right now because you have it stable. (if it aint broke don't fix it). I use one lg to incubate and turn and one to hatch in(I personally like the Hovabator for hatching because it has taller bottom sides on it. Yes the shelf liner will help with humidity control, not allowing a lot to leave quickly.

Good idea PurpleChicken on the waterbottles. Never would have thougth of that on my own!

I have a $40 LG + Turner and fan ($70). I like it. It take getting used
to but so does any bator.

I also have a Brinsea Octagon 40. It's a $500 bator. Like the LG it takes
some practice, experience, and good eggs to get a good hatch.

Hey PC. I used to be Horsegirl. Do you remember me? I stuck up for you when you were yanking someone's chain on a green thread once.

So, what do you keep your humidity at?

Mine is at 55:gig degrees and my temp is about 100.5. Going to adjust it down a touch more......

I keep my humidity around 45 then bump to 65 on day 18. If it varies a
few points I don't worry.

I also keep mine around 100. If I go up to 101.5 like everyone says, I have chicks that hatch on day 18. I use mine for the whole process. I 'try' to get my humidity over 55% as it won't stay any higher. At least that's how it used to be!! I bought a small pc fan to add to it, and it works just fine now. I love it!!

My solution to the water bottles thing is to keep any and all eggs in the thing for as long as possible!! If they don't stink, they stay!

Just for clarification I keep my forced air temp at 100 at egg level. I keep
it at 101.5 at the top of the bator near the windows. There is a huge
difference in temps when you vary the height.

101.5 at egg level, as you said, would produce an early hatch and leg
problems.

I have also found that if I insert both red plugs I can get my humidity up
above 65. If I want to go higher I add napkins in the base that wick
water out of the water wells and helps boost humidity.
