LG vs Genesis 1588 HATCH OFF pic

Just so the results aren't skewed, it looks like your Genesis lid isn't closed all the way (see the far right side of the bottom photo)

Best of luck on both of your hatches! Will

for LOTS of keets!

We have some decisions to make by Friday. Both incubators will be filled to capacity. We have auction eggs and we have barnyard "control" eggs. We also have Quail eggs.

for the purpose of your project.

we have hatched the barnyard eggs twice so far in the LG with good results this spring. I am using them for the "control group" against the shipped eggs. I have ~12 of these eggs, we can split them up.

I have ~10 Marans shipped eggs we can split into the two incubators.

We have 48 quail eggs, we can split some of those into the two groups, I think I have the proper trays.

couple bantam barred rock eggs?

so about 10+ LF chicken "test" eggs in each group, 20+ Coturnix Quail eggs and 4 bantam eggs. ~34 eggs in each test group.

and with your guineas this will be a good test.

now for lockdown, we may need to add a hatcher into the mix, but will place equal #s of eggs from each group into it.

quail had to go in another incubator, so here is what I have to contribute to the project.

I tried to lay them out exactly in each. All Bantam and Standard Chicken Eggs

with the LG, I have found it helps stabilize the humidity/temp. no gaping holes for drafts. (imho)

I could untape it, but I do kinda want these eggs to hatch, some are $hipped...

and if we did it with the LG, we had to do it with the Genesis- per project protocol...

I also put them in the closet to help control temperature swings.

This is the setup I've been running all this year:

Hovabator 2362N (forced air) and LG still air, both with turners. Hatcher is a LG still air without a turner. I'll keep track of hatch percentages from now on and you can add them to your data if you wish.
