What fruits do you usually grow in the garden?
I have blueberry bushes and a few strawberry plants. The strawberries are trying to die from a soil born disease.

We have some wild apple trees, but don't spray for any bugs, so they do get a lot of worms. We have 4 that we've planted (the Honeycrisp died, sigh), but they aren't old enough to bear yet. We have 2 sour cherries that are just barely old enough and grew a handful of cherries this year.

I've grown muskmelon (cantaloupe) with varying success. Ground hogs LOVE them, so sometimes they get them first.

We have some wild blackberries and black raspberries that manage to give us a few berries, but it depends on whether the deer or birds get to them first.

Everything likes sweet things, it seems! I have netting over the blueberries, or the birds would get them all.

My garlic, on the other hand did really well this year! :)

Yes it's so hard to complete with bugs, deer, rabbits, birds, squirrels... it's like they lurk watching things grow and right when fruit is just about ready to harvest, there they are to get there first. The squirrels are horrible lately, I've had them go along and take a bite out of everything. :( I'd rather they just eat one and leave the rest alone. But no, they ruin it all. :hmm

Lost Every Single Apple on the tree last year to blue jays. >.< My daughter and grandson went out to pick some, and there were none left.

:hugs Very disappointing isn't it. :(
I got to eat some since I was out back a lot and would just snag one from time to time (a bit under-ripe but still edible), but she never did. She was not impressed.

And last year, the ducks ate all my garden plants except for one lone sunflower. Which never got any seeds.

This year, I'm foraging! >.>

Yes definitely forage as you see them ripe, before the critters get to them!

Unless the were an open pollinated variety, they may not breed true. Stores often -- usually? -- sell hybrid variety produce.
Yeah, I dunno what I'll get, I was just astonished the peppers actually grew. I figure I'll grow stuff I want to, and anything I don't like eating I'll just give away or give to the animals. I just like the gardening part
