Unless someone is laughing so hard at a joke they heard that it takes five minutes for them to actually tell you it, and then the joke turns out to not even be that funny. Then it’s very angering

Once for me and my siblings were younger, we let one of our chickens eat meat stick. (One time thing). She ate like how I’d imagine an ACTUAL dinosaur would eat, and she swallowed over half of it in her last bite. She probably took about 3.

Thankfully that can't happen in BYC . And I wouldn't worry about meat much. I feed it to my birds weekly

Yes meat is actually good for chickens especially during molting season, lots of proteins and amino acids not present in chicken feed, grows beautiful feathers!

Yeah but it was those slim Jim kind of meat sticks (not the actual brand I think it was normal meat stick size) with lots of salt and other stuff. So it’s still not that good for them because of the salt, but you guys should try feeding your chickens a meat stick

Yes, those things aren't the best for chickens, humans either! But one never killed anyone or anything.

Peppermint and Eucalyptus kills all bugs dead on contact, if you have any of these oils, you could put a bit of each in a spray bottle, tiny drop of liquid soap, fill with water and spray inside the boxes and replace with new bedding. This mix is non-toxic to birds. You can even spray the birds themselves with it if need be. Careful of the eyes though.

Can you tell me a little more about the amounts? I have a quart spray bottle. How much of the essential oil would I use?

Spray under roost bars too, mites lurk there all day to feast on birds at night.

After dark, take a white paper towel and rub it across the underside of the roost. Look at it in regualr light and if you see red smears, those are smashed mites. They're red because of the blood they've eaten.

With a 32 ounce bottle, add 1 teaspoon of Eucalyptus oil and 1 teaspoon of Peppermint oil, 1 drop of Dawn dish soap and fill with water. This stuff even works on fleas! I found a flea on the dog a couple hours ago and I sprayed him with this mixture down around where I saw the flea, it was dead in seconds!

I'd be wary of essential oils in the coop, chickens have sensitive respiratory systems.

This isn't something that I defuse over any length of time. I use it to kill bugs once, spraying things down, never when birds are closed in. The smell disapates fast, it doesn't linger in the air very long. I am sure essential oils would irritate their lungs if forced to breathe the oils for long periods. I've never had any trouble using it briefly in this fashion.
