If you leave the tie wires or string on them, they should stay pretty whole? Plus 2 side by side will not only make a good landing spot for her and babies but a launching point for her to get up too. She will take better care of herself if it's easy on her.

That would work! Don't worry about her too much though. She's an excellent flier. Like a really good flier. She sleeps in a tree twice as high every night

Well, now the waiting on babies begins....

She definitely will. My one leg gal can jump surprisingly high, but it's much easier on her to no have to jump

So remember when Cruella went blonde at the beginning of her brooding. Wouldn't it theoretically be easier for her to go blonde this time round, since her nest is off the ground?
Generally broodies get smarter with each brood, learning from their experiences. So in her mind she may have felt her first brood was too exposed to predators, light, other birds, humans....and in the wild it would definitely have been. Broodies like dark, hidden nests that are not easily accessible. So this time around she wanted a more private hidden area to raise her brood and this was the best she could find on the property.

This said, I think she's "going blonde" with this situation I really don't think this is a good spot for her, and it's not safe for babies.

Since she is probably going to be a persistent broody, for future broods, you might build her a hideaway nest box on some lower shelf that is tucked away, dimly light, something tall enough she can stand in and has a lip on it to keep bedding, eggs and babies from tumbling out.

OK, so that makes two of us. I have a feeling Lady Gaga is behind this. It's very much a place he'd come up with. I'll try to come up with some nest design of sorts for the future. Thanks :hugs!
:hugs
Lady Gaga is the Tiny one isn't he? Well that makes sense, he could probably stand up in there and crow! :gig You can leave her in there and see how it goes this time, but she's got a long life of broodiness, she should probably have a designated "Cruellas Broody Nest" only for all the babies she's going to raise. :D

"Cruella's Broody Nest". Sounds like a thread in the making. Actually it sounds really cool. I am going to leave her this time I think, but not in that nest, next time! Hoping she'll take a winter break, don't want her raising teeny tiny babies in the winter. And yes, Lady Gaga is the tiny troublemaker

Yes you should start a thread on Cruellas hatching adventures, that would be fun to follow along in her broody nest! :woot

"Lady Gaga the trouble maker."... :gig He's too cute and adorable to be trouble. :love

@Sally PB , you're the one who wanted to see the glass I got at ren faire, right?
Yes! I love them!
I've been thinking of just shaving all my hair off, lol! Although of course this makes no sense just as winter starts.
I'd love to have a buzz cut. But you have to keep getting a trim, or it starts to look shaggy. I'm not into upkeep. So a ponytail it is, and every now and then, chop off a few inches.
My neck was so cold at the rodeo yesterday without any hair 😅. I ended up wearing my hood the entire time
I bet you felt the lack of "insulation" back there! :gig
I'm a hoodie lady, for sure. Keeps the head and back of the neck warm. :thumbsup
