Indeed! Don't know how rare they are in the US, but over here I can't find them anywhere but the plant expo. Lithops, astrophytum and gymnocalycium will be what I keep adding to my collection, I think. Maybe an odd one out here and there

I think they are considered rare although its so rural out here, everything is rare. I still would like to try Lithops but I would have to order them in line. And yes, these odd succulents are temperamental, I am learning fast these guys are fussy!

Golden Moss... (This plant is growing like crazy, he's in a 4.25" pot loves direct sun)

String of Pearls....( Very delicate plant and I'm still trying to find the exact light it needs, its a shade lover, but its growing fast, lots of offshoots!)

My regular cactus are doing well too, I am loving my Barrel cactus and I think my old man cactus has grown an inch already! At the end of summer I will get measurements and photos of all of them.

They're all looking fabulous! Those pots will last them awhile! Especially the sedum and the golden moss, WOW what a transformation!

You should definitely give lithops a try, I love them! Maybe it's that they fit me well, but dare I say, they've been quite easy. I just need to keep in mind their cycles. I don't think shipping lithops would be a problem, they're so compact, that there's not much to mess up

I agree! The moss is out of control even after a month, if you sun stress these guys they turn golden, but the UV at this altitude scorches things easily so I will let him stay green. I agree these guys will enjoy these pots probably a couple of years, the moss however may neen a new pot next spring? Yes they are all doing well! Now if I can just keep them alive.

Yes I bet they ship very easily, no branches or spikes. I may order some! I think they like high heat? Maybe yours will do really well in your blazing heat. We have high UV but not high temps.

That explains the name! Not if it'll need repotting next spring, it might. Also not sure if it's a deep rooter or a shallow rooter, judging by its looks, probably the latter. That might mean that it doesn't utilise the bottom levels of soil as much

day and cold temperatures at night. They're not very picky about temperature. It's sunlight they enjoy. The more, the better

Look into hens and chicks. I have a lot, and they're typically not as temperamental ime

For cacti, mammillaria are a good genus to look into, and as for non-cacti succulents, haworthia and some echeveria are excellent

(not like the ones that look similar to brains).

*gasp* how dare you! Lithops are simply the best!
