Despite what I've said before, I've decided to stick to sex-linked hens next year when I buy chicks.
Since our 8 year old black sex-linked hen continued laying up until last year, I've decided to go with a mixed breed like hers.
I'll be getting black, red, and gold sex-linked chicks.

I feel like I'm failing my birds. The racoon managed to snag one of the Muscovy ducks last night while I was locking them up.
Since our bantam hen had figured out how to slip past me and was trying to sleep in a tree, I was too focused on her and didn't realize the racoon got into the duck house until I heard it taking off with the duck.
This racoon has certainly gotten bolder since it last took a bird. What would cause it to take a bird while I was out there? Aren't they supposed to be too scared of humans to try that?

They're finishing fundraising tomorrow and are trying to get the rest of the horses out of the holding stalls before they're sent off to slaughter on Monday.

I've been following them on YouTube and FB for a while now and feel like they're a very safe bet for donating and not being a scam, if that offers any reassurances

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas!
I got bored the other day and attempted to make a fictional animal art doll type thing...
This is it so far. I'm thinking of changing blue eyes for red, and making him albino. It's just the vibe I'm getting from him.
He is fully posable and kinda silly looking lol.
Im yet to finish the face and legs. Any thoughts or improvements? I don't hate the blue eyes but I feel like red/pink would pop more with the white fur. Biggest question is to ear or not to ear... and what sort of ears?
