LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Oh, and I totally defer to @fluffycrow's opinion--I deffo no succy ID'r, if that makes any sense, haha. (You get it.)

I clicked on this before I even realized what it was. (There is F-💣 droppage, so maybe pg-13? Sorry, it's totally cool to take it down if it's not okay.) 😇
(In case the link gets broken but you can still find the video: "Inside a Hidden LA Greenhouse Full of the World's Rarest Plants")

I hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday!

What a great video! Thanks for sharing. That plant they ID’d from the chicken feathers? That was really cool:lol:.

The video did make me rethink my welwitschia dreams just a bit. Didn’t realise their roots were that long

Oh my, now that’s a name we haven’t seen in a long time! Welcome back :wee !!!

Glad to read you’ve finished your Masters, that must be really exciting!
How’s everything over there?
Thanks, fluffy!

Things have been ok overe here. Finishing school was a big relief and a lot off my plate. I now have 20 chickens (4 bantams!!!) and lots of colored eggs that I LOVE!

How have you been? (Aside from amassing what I can only assume is a collection of succulents that has taken over your home 😄).

Right, I remember the new bantam additions! EEs, right?
Egg and chicken photos, please:D!

Thankfully I have a strict somewhat strict no houseplant policy. All the succulents are outside, scattered on tables, the floor and some garden beds. But yup, the collection is continually growing, as I continue to acquire cooler (or according to friends and family, uglier:rolleyes:) succulents!

Things here have been good. Lots of losses, definitely a bad year in that regard. But hey, things are looking up

I have 1 Green Queen Bantam, 2 Mottled Cochin Bantams, and 1 Splash Ameraucana Bantam (I ordered 2, but one passed the day after I got them home and the other is the tiniest chicken EVER. She also has weird feather shredding and very short legs. I think too much inbreeding or something??)

I also have a huge Bielefelder that was in that group. She's very sweet.

Here's some egg pics (I'll post pics of the girls shortly - I don't have any recent pics):

All the succulents are outside,

I had no idea one could keep succulents outside...shows how much I know about plants 🤦‍♀️. It's very cool you have so many varieties! I'm planning to start a "Food Forest"/"Edible Landscape" in the spring, so I'm really trying to brush up on this plant stuff (lol)...

Glad things are looking up (beautiful chicks!), but I'm sorry about your losses - I've had a couple this year myself...never really gets easier. 💕

Here's some pics of my gals!

Spicy Boots (constantly broody and meaner than a snake who married a garden hose (but still cute)):

Missy Boots (also doesn't live up to the "sweet cochin" stereotype, but isn't trying to actively kill me like Spicy is):

Beetle (Green Queen Bantam - has feathers on her legs and 5 toes on one of her feet - is a consistent layer of small, very light, more blue than green eggs):

The last bantam is Dinky (a vert strange little bird who lays the tiniest blue egg and waddles around on tiny short legs, but otherwise seems healthy, aside from her feather shredding (I lover her very much, but I won't ever order from Meyer Hatchery again...)):
