I don’t have a problem with it. Why would I? I am not lgbt, but it is very near and dear to my heart. I’d love to learn more about you, about your struggles and your birds. What all do you raise?

I have been to the Mermaid Parade in Brooklyn, NY and the Gay Pride week in Manhattan, NYC. Both were very fun, very wild, and very....uncensored. The Mermaid parade is known for its raunchiness but even I was shocked, and I do not shock easily. The Manhattan one was a little more laid back but still very fun and pretty wild. I don't know if they are all like that or just the huge ones in NYC.

Good point. Usually the daytime stuff in the SF area is pretty PG. After dark though, .

You’ll love ducks. They have so much personality. We raised Muscovy for several years. Unfortunately, a5year drought had us changing that. We have had chickens, rir, New Hampshire’, buff Orpingto, and acunas. We love them all. Our first conturnix ssc quail are currently in the post to us. So excited.

The amount of unfettered wiener...can be a touch overwhelming for certain folks.

Ducks, chickens and going into quail. I think we are addicted to hatching chicks. They’re so cute.

Has anyone ever been to a Pride Parade before?

No, but I went to Mardi Gras in New Orleans in the late 70's....
....there was a lot of gay pride there.

Musta been a hell of a time! I was at Mardi gras 2017. There was a whole Krew of Dong. Big Freedia led there parade. So epic.

I'm getting quail soon too! Very exciting. How you settin up for them? How many you getting?

It is for my daughters animal care course. We ordered 50 ssc hatching eggs from myshirefarm. The silvers are just so pretty. we just upgraded our incubator to hold 96 quail eggs. Beats our other one for volume, that one only held a dozen. We are building a pen in one of our garden beds under a tree. They will have 2 shelters inside the pen. We plan to have it completely enclosed, comprising of hardware cloth, with 2 doors along the long sides.4 ft x 4x by 8 ft long. We also plan to bury the bottom in 4 inches of soil topped with bedding. This should give birds feeling of on ground, but protection from predators. In addition we are building a cage to house a few so it’s available if and when needed.
