LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Leaving an update tonight as I'll be quite busy tomorrow and won't be able to keep you all updated.

I got a trail cam and have been testing it outside. I will be putting it up near the chicken coop very soon.

I'm almost done getting what I need for Halloween. For those who don't know, I'll be handing out hot apple cider, hot cocoa, cookies, cupcakes, and goodie bags of candy. I just need to get the cups and a tiny bit more candy.

Going to be selling more eggs later this week.

We've lived in our house for 27+ years. In all that time, we have never had a trick-or-treater. We're at the end of a dead end road, waaaaay out there in the boonies.

There have been two families on our road with kids; both are Seventh Day Adventist, and they don't do that.

I heard something today that made me very sad. I don't know this person's source for the info, but she said she read (on line, of course) that 75% of trans people end up committing suicide. Does anyone here have any information on that topic?

That is just heart breaking, to me.

I found this site: https://www.suicideinfo.ca/resource/transgender-people-suicide/

Which says that 22-43% of trans people attempt suicide over their lives. It is heart breaking.

But I'm joyful that life for rainbow people is getting easier. I met some kids under 10 last weekend who were free to be whatever gender. Their mom and other care givers are completely supportive. I think the more supportive society is the more those devastating numbers will go down.

Yes unfortunately that is true, and I think 90% of LGBTQ+ youth have been bullied/harassed :(
Also there is no education about LGBTQ+ people, people love to bring up the argument that one person's history should be taught to everyone and yet when LGBTQ+ education is mentioned nothing happens. I didn't know being a gender besides the one I was assigned at birth or a sexuality other than heterosexual was possible until I was 12
People generally don't like things they don't know about, so bullying and harassment is very common due to lack of education

I was about 10, when someone told me what a homosexual was. That was in 1972. The closet door was still firmly nailed shut. Bisexual was barely on the radar, transgender was never discussed, and Q was just the 17th letter of the alphabet.

My experience was very similar.

I find that young kids easily get on board with all kinds of things. I love that some kid shows have LGBT characters.
