Dam fowl pox that is rough! Everything here is going good. Got my foundation ug out for my shed coop, which order is currently processing. As of tonight there is three beautiful chicks under my broody. I am integrating my juvies this week, and next week I try free ranginf the guineas for the first time! I'm so grateful for how this spring is treating me, despite the societal chaos all around. Why do you think the priven broody killed the eggs? Maybe they ere no good?So exciting!
hows everyone doing? I’ve got my next broody hatches going on, they’re kind of a disaster with fowl pox in my flock this week and one (proven) broody that just killed two hatching eggs.
Also, shhh, but I dropped a chick today! I felt so bad, I lifted mom with a towel and the chick got stuck in the towel and fell to the floor of the run! Good thing there's deep soft litter there. Baby seemed fine. I think it was more traumatic for me! lol
Who knows why she did. She is a nutcase this go round. I put ceramic eggs out for her and she is sitting on those while the other broody hatches. Today she jumped off the nest came running for treats and stood there by herself clucking. Like literally calling to the chicks that she killed.Dam fowl pox that is rough! Fluffy has been such a good mama so far. I spied on her a lot today lol. Too cute. I keep trying to get pics but the chicks freak and I feel bad. Plenty of time for photos.

it’s a mosquito-born illness. It’s supposedly like chicken pox in that once they get it they are immune. I’ve had it once before. It usually cycles through every single chicken once you get it. It’s a bunch of lesions on the combs and wattles and face that then scab up. It’s itchy and not comfortable for them.Don't worry, chicks seem pretty tpugh. Can't count how many I've dropped. As long as they haven't just hatched and it's not too high over too hard a surface they seem to rebound
Can someone explain fowl pox? I literally never heard of it before last week
Welcome to the thread. Sounds like we have similar stories. Cute birds!!Hey all,
I found this group and love the topic of conversartion. I am bi but definitely not out to very many people. I am happily married and my wife is very supportive of me and we both try to be as supportive as we can of the LGBT+ community.
I am also new to chicken keeping as I have wanted to do it for years but just recently convinced my wife. I have a flock of 8 right now but have ordered 2 Easter Eggers to add to my flock to make it 10. I absolutely love my girls and how each of them have their own unique personalities. I raised my first 8 from day old chicks, but the 2 EEs will be started pullets and will come at about the same age as my girls when they get here.
I am happy to find such a supportive group and look forward to continuing to follow this thread! I attached a few pics to show you my girls
