I don't know what all those are!
Open to the suggestions though, I need ideas to fill my room with! The hardier the better

Definitely take a look at those! Although I admit, I don't like them at all, but they're super hardy! I'd also look at Hoya carnosa, a haworthia, and possibly at a monstera or some other type of philodendron

Trying my hardest here, because as a succulent enthusiast I'm like ew why would someone buy a 1000 dollar monstera that looks like it's covered in bird poop. So I'm trying my hardest to think of good beginner plants for the regular hobbyist

Ugh, I really think my dad is the main influence on my mum when it comes to the hatred.
I don't hear anything bad come from her, but always from him.

She just went "oh dear..." at the tv at a person who was wearing makeup, gave her a look, and she elaborated "blue lipstick just doesn't work"... "on anyone!"
My dad interrupted "but it's a MAN."
And she just seemed to shut down and nod along.

It's frustrating. Sometimes I feel like I could come out, she seems safe to talk to, but I know my dad would influence her reaction.

I'd come out to her privately, like if you and her are on a trip into town or something where she'd have at least a bit to mull over it without his influence. Still might revert when he is in the picture, but he might not

Perhaps, I probably won't until I at least have a new home lined up, to be safe if worst comes to worst. We go out for lunch sometimes, it would probably be during or after something like that

I can't help but think about a marriage show we often watch, last season there was a lesbian couple and she talked about them as though they were any other couple. My dad made disgusting comments, but she didn't join in. She seemed to disapprove of his jokes. I don't see her as homophobic, but her views are still somewhat harmful

It sucks to say this, but your safety always comes first, so if you don't feel comfortable coming out wait until you feel safe doing so. It doesn't make you any less you. Unfortunately this world is still pretty unsafe for some of us
