Miss girl was out again. I took some of her eggs (because she was sitting on like 10 or something) to make her feel more comfortable😌 and then guided her back to the nest. As I said before, don't care if the eggs under her hatch, just that she adopts some of the Electric Lady eggs
10 is a lot of eggs, good call on removing a few! Sounds like she is doing well and staying broody, definitely good practice for her in the future! Some of hers will no doubt hatch. And come on Electric Lady, Cruella needs babies! :D

Yep! I'm overall pretty happy with her this time. She seems to be taking some breaks (and although she needs to be reminded where her nest is) her condition is much better, and she's a wonderful broody, and a protective one at that! I really hope she'll be a good mother as well

****Sometimes*** They won't be better after chicks hatch, but usually when the chicks are mobile and can follow, it works better because they stick with her

That makes sense. It takes about 10 hours to a day for chicks to become mobile, right? So if I place them under Cruella at night, then by the time she gets up for her 2-3 pm stroll, they should be able to follow her

Its good to keep an eye on first time mothers, some have been known to abandon or even kill chicks, not all that common though. Hopefully her mommy hormones kick in deeply and she makes a wonderful mom!

I'd wait until her eggs hatch because broodies will abandon their eggs after a day or so if they have other chicks to care for. Sneaking chicks under a broody in the cover of darkness is best for the broody to accept them.

Hope so too! She has a big job, of raising the next generation of free rangers (even though she doesn't free range)! So for a pullet her size, age, and experience is a lot! I have a lot of trust in that bird though, as some might tell you, from day one

Yes, I'll wait till I see movement under her, and the night of that day, I'll move some Electric Lady chicks (depending on how many hatch from her eggs) totaling 5. I think that's a good number for her
