I think snow is diminishing everywhere in winter now. :(

I beg to differ. There were a lot of years where our capital, and by extention quite a few places in Central Greece didn't get any snow at all. For the past few years, those areas have been getting a good amount of snow for a week or so

Yeah. Another problem with climate change.

Another issue here is, if it is just a few degrees warmer, we could get freezing rain. That is MUCH worse than 5-6 inches of snow. It doesn't take much ice on the roads to lead to total undrivability. Or on the trees to lead to massive power outages.

The tree did straighten, thank goodness. We got a lot of "volunteer" firewood out of that storm. Yup, the power was out for about 3 days with that storm.

I guess all our snow is falling on your part of the world? The US is seeing a lot less snow, ski areas have permanently closed, winters are much warmer than they used to be. Send that snow back over here!!

Granted, our snowy areas are experiencing the same thing, just less noticeably. Climate change is a weird thing

Yes lots more ice storms across the country instead of snow now. Hopefully you don't have to deal with a 3 day power outage again!

Just had a 4 day one a couple weeks ago, due to straight line winds. We have a generator, thank goodness.

More weather geek: Straight line winds are like a tornado, without the spinning. We had 70 mph winds that snapped 6" diameter trees off 15-20 feet above the ground. I saw a 12"+ diameter tree that was pushed over.

All in all, I'd rather have a power outage when it's warm out than when it's winter.

Actually, I would just rather NOT have a power outage. :lau
