She is. Her legs were hurting yesterday and she didn't want to stand while eating so we gave her the food over by us.

She was so happy, we had a fire going last night. She loves laying right next to the woodstove
Awww....sweet girl. ❤ Is she older or have arthritis? Dogs really love the wood stove heat!

Even the cat wanted to cuddle under the blanket for a while, so it was pretty cold. I won't complain, I lost some chicks yesterday and feel awful about it, so the comfort was nice
Send some of that chill down here, :p we are pretty close to firing up the wood stove too. Love the first fire of the season, comforting to see smoke coming out of the stack.

Both. She's 11 or 12 I think now. And admittedly overweight, but she has no "line" between overweight and unable to stand without her back end crumpling. We think that the extra weight is actually her muscling in the front holding her up. She's shaped like a wedge

11 or 12 is definitely an older dog, it is common for them to develop hip and back trouble, especially if they are overweight. Give her some lovin' for me! 💖

And I agree, dogs become family easily. I can't imagine my life without at least one dog, at this point. Kai is my shadow, he always wants to be involved, and loves to help out. Or think he's helping. I try to give him tasks so he feels included, but sometimes he gets creative in how he helps, like biting the water as it comes out the watering can. I'm also not allowed to go to the bathroom by myself, I suppose just in case an axe murderer bursts into the house while I'm on the toilet and at my most vulnerable. Can't complain though, he gives good hugs.
Biting the water... oh, man, did our Raven like to do that!

And Mara HAD TO make sure you were ok in the bathroom. I told her that I definitely was not climbing out the window. To be fair, when she went potty, she would look over her shoulder as if to say, "Mom, you got my back? Nobody's sneaking up on me, right?
