I like to come here for advice, because everyone seems pretty experienced and I trust your suggestions (sometimes, when you start a new thread, you get no responses or too many conflicting opinions).

One of my 1 yr old hens (Poor Ginny) has a broken "pinky" toe (right foot - outermost toe). She's limping a bit, but still able to walk, eat, drink, and roost. Here's what it looks like :

Please let me know if y'all think I should (or would rather) I start a new thread in the "injuries" forum ... I've searched the various threads that mention broken toes (lots about baby chicks deformities, but not as many adult birds). Some say there's not really anything to do but let it heal and be deformed, and some say to splint it and crate the bird at night (which I'm not super keen on, but will do if necessary).

I lived in South Dakota for a while, tons of ticks up there. OMG.....I did a body check several times a day, when I found one burrowing under my skin I totally freaked out!

Quail are SO small there isn't much you can do if they break a toe. But definitely don't keep them on wire, use bedding so not to hurt their tiny toes and pads. Quail get bumblefoot and rip toes easily on wire.

I had to remove a tick from my son's thigh earlier this summer. It was the first time I've ever had to remove a tick from anyone or anything ever. That was a big NOPE for me. When I tell you that I almost passed out.... I was sooo horrified!

They are so freaking gross burrowing into the skin, getting them out is no picnic either!

He's got all 6 separated for me.
I'm so excited!
Also a few are pullets, not hens. My mistake.
Because they're pet quality, like I asked for, I'm getting them for a good price.
