LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Actually Cruella is in the front with the rest of the babes, you can barely see her tail! They're pretty law-abiding, yes! Respecting mom and not bullying auntie...too much🤣
Oh OK! :D Glad the co-parenting is going so well! ā¤ Isn't it just amazing what these birds do...hatching, teaching, growing up babies?! It's really incredible to be a part of. 😊

It is! Ugh I love this part of chicken keeping. The co-mothering is going good, better than I had expected. They seem to not let Lady Gaga as close anymore, don't know what happened there

Ursula is no doubt learning from all this...broody in training. 😊 Your mommas will grow some well behaved intelligent babies. Broodies are smart and Lady Gaga must not be showing he's trust worthy in some way. Or maybe because there are 2 care givers already, they choose to keep him at a distance. We may never know but they have made the final decision so it must be correct! :D

I hope she does! I definitely trust them, I'd just like to know what he does (or doesn't do) that they don't like. Maybe it's that peck he gave one of the chicks when it got too close to his face? Cruella might've thought it was too early for such a discipline from him? Whatever the case, like you said, I'm sure it's the correct choice

Some boys have that maternal instinct and are wonderful with babies, others not so much. If he pecked a baby for getting too close, this could be a signal to Cruella he could become more aggressive for any reason. If momma saw that, I would think she would feel this was not exceptable behavior and he lost his rights to parent them. Broodies understand rooster behaviors and feel maybe Lady Gaga isn't ready to care for babies yet.

It very well could be, he's very young after all. It's just that the timing doesn't match up. Lady Gaga called them to food as usual, and the all gathered around him, joining him to the feast. One baby was literally I'm his face, he gave the smallest peck I've ever seen, the chick chirped a little, moved to the side, and theyball continued to eat together. Cruella kept allowing him to get close for another week or more, which is what confuses me. He's been stellar with them apart from that

Cruella must know something, maybe its just a vibe he is giving off. I don't think not having him around the chicks will effect their mental or physical growth. The mommas are more genetically programed for raising the babies, maybe once he matures more the mommas will allow more assistance from him. Hens recognize maturity very easily in roosters, cockerels especially, she may think he's too immature yet.

Very well could be. Either way, he'll be totally ready for spring!
