Very glad to hear! Yes, she’s at the very bottom. Unfortunately her genetic SLM acts up almost all the time, which gives her limited mobility. I try to help as much as I can, and Foureira tries her best to avoid the pecks, but it’s almost impossible to avoid them all

Adding to the last: I now believe Fig/Fern is her biological son as well, as he’s also got pretty bad SLM. No other birds have any SLM at all, so I’m pretty sure there’s a genetic component to their condition

:hugs Every flock has a few birds that don't thrive as well, and these little issues definitely make them weaker. We do our best to give them good lives and all the love they can handle. :hugs

Indeed. Foureira seems very happy and healthy, even though her feet are pretty terrible. I take care of them as much as possible. I have never touched her son, he is too wil. I worry how that will turn out with age:hmm

We have an epidemic of leg scale mites around here, it's a constant battle. Greasing up the legs helps but never gets rid of it. I've found Ivermectin pour on along with permethrin spraying is the only way to keep it down to a dull roar.

Interesting, I do betadine soak once, and then Vaseline daily. All the seramas last year had SLM, but after that treatment it cleared up on all of them. It has not come back for anyone, other than Foureira and her son. Not sure if I can find either treatment here, but I’ll be on the lookout

I know there's been lots of sad news recently and I don't want to take away from those conversations, but on one positive note- I'm finally moved fully and I now feel safe to come out here as non binary :)
It's been a few months of self discovery and trying labels, I'm still unsure if I'm genderfluid or bigender, but I'm definitely somewhere under the umbrella. Timing has worked out perfectly, I get to come out in pride month
