LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

Been lurking in this thread a while but have been a bit shy--So hello, I'm a chickenkeeper with a small flock in rural Alberta, a falconer (theoretically), a gamer (when I have time), an artist (when I have ideas), and a writer (when I have motivation). You all seem like a very nice chill group and I look forward to getting to know people :)
Hello and welcome to the thread! :frow What breeds of chickens do you keep? Ooh, falconry, I've always wanted to do that. I love your profile photo, did you draw that? 😊

Hello! I've currently got four Australorps (incubator troubles on that batch of eggs :/ ) which I've gotten very fond of and am hoping to hatch more. I didn't manage to get these accustomed to being handled as much as I wanted, but they're still just lovely calm birds. A handful of mixed-breed bantams happened to me as well, which are the opposite of lovely calm birds. They're still quite fun to watch.

And thank you, I did to my avatar! I actually did it for an "ISO Hunting Grounds" flyer for our falconry--I'm apprenticed to my mother-in-law and we're trying to find new sites for the winter. It really is a fascinating sport, and I can almost guarantee it's a different experience than most people expect! I'd encourage anyone seriously interested to see if there's a club in your province/state and ask if there's anyone willing to bring newcomers into the field.

Australorps are my all time favorite breed! They are hardy and healthy and make great lap warmers too! 😁

You are so lucky to be involved with the Falconry sport, I find it extremely fascinating! ❤️ It's an ancient art/sport of hunting, it's been around for over 2000 yrs. There is a club about 3 hours from here, I went to one of their public shows once and talked to the head guy. But it's just too far away for me to attend very often. Enjoy this wonderful opportunity! 😊
