LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

It's a shame that people aren't allowed to be comfortable with who they are and the bodies they were born in. Unfortunately humanity has created judgmental structures on how we all should live our lives, which inevitably causes separation, war and oppression. Humanity can be pretty ugly at times. Fortunately there are pockets of safety all around the world where once in a while one can find unexpected exceptance and BYC is one of those places. Hugs all around to all of you here. :hugs

Yes, I get this. I grew up in mostly very conservative rural areas. It's still not really very accepted. I do feel fortunate, though, that it is mostly becoming live and let live.

There was a gay couple that ran a small gas pump and store when I was growing up. They got run out of town. I feel very lucky that I've never experienced this and it's only people living authentically that it has become a more accepting, safer world to live in. Unfortunately, I realize this is still not the case everywhere.

We drove to Montana and are camping and my phone is dying, but I'll catch up later! I hope everyone enjoys their day!

Such a gorgeous and funky plant :love ! I’m definitely looking to find one in the next plant expo.

Thank you for sharing her, TwoCrows! This is definitely one of my faves from your beautiful collection!

I really hope you can find one of these, I think you will enjoy their beauty! I've learned a lot about this little one over this past year. They naturally grow in the shade of damp rocky outcroppings of the Canary Islands. So they do not like sun at all, they burn very easily. Their roots are incredibly shallow and don't get deeper than about an inch. I had her under grow lights for a while and it was just too much light for her, she turned quite pale and red. So she now sits in the very edge of the shelf where she has returned to green. These plants can honestly grow on a north facing window shelf inside the house and do just fine. She's in a 2 inch pot. They do like a bit more water than other succulents so I've been watering her about every 10 to 14 days in the summer. Last winter she didn't appear to go dormant and looking back now, she may be a winter grower as she isn't doing much now. I kept watering her in the winter because she was growing so much. When she starts to turn a bit pale, I can tell she needs water. She still put in a huge show of flowers in the spring though, nearly every one of those arms had a flower! When I first potted her she was in a very gritty cactus mix, less organic soil. She was drying out way to fast for her own good so I repotted her in a more organic mix, 1/3 succulent soil, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 gravel. She improved immediately.

Here is a quick link to their care... https://rntsucculents.com/blogs/news/how-to-take-care-of-monanthese-polyphylla

I'll be a bit busy from now on but I'll try to posts some updates. I've started getting back into fully live streaming on Twitch. Still sticking to charity live streams though.
Twitch did grant me a chance to start earning money now so I'll see how that goes.

UberEats has started picking up again so I've been making $80-$90 a night now instead of the usual $50-$60. Might not seem like a lot but when this is my full time job, it's better than nothing lol 😅

I'm a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and also volunteer for LGBTQIA+ people that need to flee a country where it's really dangerous...

It's sad to see they spread like wildfire... (the amount of places where LGBTQIA+ people are not safe)

What helps me is seeing my LGBTQIA+ ducks. It always makes me giggle. They are so nonchalant about it. Especially in puberty they have no issue with being sexually attracted to the same gender, and I also have had some bunch of ducks that we would call intersex/trans/gay/lesbian and it gives me hope. If they can't care surely we can some day.
