LGBTQ+ Poultry Keepers

So since I only ended up with two pullets from my last hatch, and the 6 boys are gone now Obviously this means I have room for more! The guy who took the boys breeds chickens and he gave me 21 eggs to incubate:) They are a mix of different breeds, no mutts but unsure exactly what I will be getting other than some True Blue Whitings.. But those eggs look green to me so IDK

Anyway I candled them just now, day 6 and marked 8 that I am unsure about. So I should know for sure next weekend which are developing and I will toss the clears. 13 for sure humming along so hopefully I get more pullets this time

I'll keep y'all posted
:fl

Do any of you in the U.S. have seramas? Is there a hatchery in the U.S. that has them? Are they able to be kept with other birds or do they need to be separate?

...asking for a friend..

It's me.... I'm the friend. 🫣
I have 1 Serama hen and she's kept with the rest of my flock that includes standard size hens but I don't recommend this due to the size differences.

Thank you for the info! I have a second, smaller coop and I could divide the chicken yard if I needed to.

I have chick fever, I think... I'm hoping it passes before spring, because I really don't need any more chickens. I justified getting bantams last year because they're like 1/2 chickens (and got 4)....I wonder if I'll justify seramas as 1/3 chickens (and buy 6)...🤪😵‍💫🥴

I think @allosaurusrock has them

You're welcome!
The only reason my Serama is with my bigger hens, is because I know they won't harm her. Especially since she's still raising her chicks and nobody wants to mess with a mama hen lol 😂

Awww! She has chicks! That's awesome. I read that they can tend to be broody...After dealing with my bantam cochin (Spicy Boots) this summer, I'm not sure I could handle another. 🫠

Funny thing though, is I had gotten her 2 Black sex-linked chicks so they'll be bigger than her in no time 😂

Not in the US, but @fluffycrow keeps Seramas and knows a lot about them too.

I remembered that fluffy has them. I am interested in learning about them. I just wasn't even sure if I could get any from a mail order hatchery. I'm fairly certain there aren't any in MI that would have them. I'm also not to sure how they would do in MI winters. I have a large Sweeter Heater in my smaller coop, I just wouldn't want to even try to keep them if it could possibly be bad for them.
