For prevention how often do you apply it in the boxes and roosts?

I just top the nest boxes up with dust once a month or so or when completely changing the nest box material.

With the coop and roosts, some recommend every 6 months but with our warmer, lice and mite preferred climate, I usually treat around the 3-4 month mark.

The powder works good for this, or are you using the spray too?
