lice carried in by who or how?

Thanks! i had no idea that wild birds carry that pest and we do have wild birds here in the country all the time plus a sunflower seeds feeder
near by the chicken coop

i think may to move that

Wild wrens come into my coop every chance they get, and of course are outside with my free ranging flock daily. Lately it's been the mites here!
Permethrin spray is your friend. Mary

Poultry mites and lice aren't the same ones that infest mice. Everyone can have nasty parasites, but many are species- specific, or at least different for birds and mammals.

True but they could be carried by hosts they don't live on. People are warned against wearing the same shoes and clothing to other chicken yards. Some cotton balls and empty tp tubes with some permethrin spray seems like cheap insurance.

True but some pests are not species specific such as worms and fleas. I didn't know chickens could harbor fleas until mice invaded the coop after a bad storm. I don't know if the fleas were feeding or not but they sure were hitching a ride and infesting bedding.:sick
