Lice infestation! How do I remove the nits???

Simply retreat in 10 days with sevin, and the potencial newly hatched vermin will be treated and the flock will be cured without pulling anything....

Bigzio,
my flock does free-range, they're only in the coop and run at night and in the morning, before I let them back out. I did some research and found out that poultry lice come from wild birds, so now I know who to blame for this mess:rolleyes:.

One thing I really don't get is why everybody says to protect your lungs, skin and eyes from this stuff, because it's so toxic. What about the chickens lungs, skin and eyes??? I tried like crazy, not to get any into their eyes today, as I dusted their butts and under their wings, but this stuff is so fine, it flies all over the place, and now I'm paranoid about having poisened them.
Can't win for loosin', can 'ya! Sheesh!

i dont think it hurts them really, its just a bit painful when u get it in your eyes, and it does taste really bad but i think you (or the chickens) would have to eat quite the ammount to get sick sick

When ya'll say sevin dust?? your talking about the stuff you put on your garden??

So you can dust your Chickens with it?

Can you mix some with the straw inside the coop and add to their dusting spots?

I read somewhere on here that you have to make sure it's Sevin dust 5% not the 10% correct? And where or where do you buy that stuff? I never used the stuff for my yard, do you get it at Lowe's?

And yes, I've discovered yesterday that my girls have lice ....Oh what fun

Yep the 5% sevin(carbaryl) is the correct one. Most garden centers will have it either in a shaker can, or a 5lb bag.
