Lice or mites?!

We have 8 month old hens we bought off of someone. It's been about a week. I picked one up and not 5 minutes after noticed my something crawling in my hair and clothing etc. I'm freaked out. They were all over. I took my clothes off and showered immediately. Now bathing my children.what could this be? Is it going to keep coming back after we have showered.yuckk!

How do we treat our chickens for this?

Look up lice and mites for photos, so you know what's there. The approved for laying hens treatment is permethrin dust, which works fine. You need to powder all the birds, and the coop, at least twice, at an eight to ten day interval. Wear a N95 or better dust mask!!! Mary
