Just last month I sent swab samples to zoologix.com. It was easy to do and I had everything required to collect a proper sample at home. I had the poultry respiratory PCR panel done which tests for 6 common respiratory diseases. They offer lots of other tests as well (links on the left). https://www.zoologix.com/avian/Datasheets/PoultryRespiratoryPanel.htm

I’ve thought about it but I don’t have the supplies like vials etc. I’m not sure how to get those. It would give me great peace of mind tho. I do think if they had a serious illness I’d be seeing some mortality or more issues in my flock and really they all look healthy. The one who had a swollen face cleared up in 3 days and has been fine. I figured it would die or get worse since it’s young but nope
For DNA testing, I was told what to put the blood in (a drop of blood gathered by clipping a toenail with a sterilized nail clipper). I see they are out of stock now, but at least it gives you an idea of what it is in case you need any down the road. The blood goes in the inside of the cap, not in the vial itself, and barely a drop is all that is needed for that.
