Life Cycle of Mites/Lice?

Does anyone know/understand the life cycle of mites/lice? I was wondering if I left a coop void of chickens for a month would that break the life cycle of the mites/lice?

It depends on the species. I know some can go months without a blood meal. They will also be carried in by wild animals as well as any new birds you get.

I'd spray the coop WELL with a strong bleach solution. and that should kill any mites present.
After it dries, I'd spray with a Permethrin based "flea" spray to get any eggs that may have survived
