Life from the Parsonage - A Journal of our Journey.

My, my, my did we have an interesting and unusual day yesterday.
Started with my husband preaching that morning about...."Keeping God in a box" (that is a bad thing)...
As I was leaving to go to choir practice, I could see a storm blowing up. Had made it to the church when it began to blow, strong winds...first came the dust. Farmers fields are still full of loose dry soil...the crops, some of them, haven't taken hold yet, and the dirt roads around have been dry...needless to say...Dust storm.
Everywhere was brown, couldn't see. Then the electricity went, and shortly thereafter the rain came. Not much lightening...(this is a good thing for me) blew hard!
We moved the choir to the fellowship hall, which has windows, and sang there....it was hot! Humid, and airless.
We quit early and went outside to cool off, the rain had stopped, and the dust had settled.
A wind was still blowing, the air was chilly! Wonderful, wonderful, cool air!
We decided right then and there to have church in the parking lot!
I was afraid the mosquito's would eat us up, but they said, "naw, the winds blowing to hard!" (God bless the wind!)
So we had, outdoor church, my husband did not miss the humor sent his way...we were certainly, "out of our box!"

We have laughed at that...I took pictures, but it's of other folk...I need to ask them if I can share pictures of them...

We had a standard guitar for music, and seats to sit upon, plenty of daylight left, and free air condition!
I should add in here, we did cause quite a stir amongst those folks driving past...lots of looks, honks, and drive-bys!
Who knows...maybe someone will come visit us!

I'm currently waiting on an answer from another thread, 'bout snakes...
We have identified the snakes we have been seeing..... cottonmouths. this does not give me much security...and we are NOT snake handling churchfolk!

My husband bought some snake keep away powder today, to go with the mothballs I had already strewn about...we noticed that these are very 'fat' snakes.
Not sure what else we can do, but I'm not 'co-habitating' with no snakes!
At least not the poisonous kind!

Well, my suitcases are out, (it takes me awhile to pack sometimes) and I'm anxious to get my start, I like to leave 'in the dark' as my young'uns put it!

Have a blessed week, enjoy your chickens, and take pictures!
We have a church member, who very kindly, offered to take care of ours...

Oh, I almost forgot....we are going to have a revival the 18-22nd...looking forward to this. The Evangelist is a hoot! His favorite saying...."I'm heaven bound, with the hammer down..." short, heavy set man...bald, and the biggest smile you ever saw! Wish you could meet him. Got to sit down and plan detailed menu's....hmmm, will enlist the ladies of the church for assistance too.

Storms will come but life with God goes on if your on a solid rock. I was teaching Sunday School Sunday morning about beingcontinually thankful in all circumstances and on Endurance. We just have to practice what we preach. The Lord is Good.
About snakes, A Veitnamese lady who does my pedicures for me said that in Vietnam they used Sulfur powder around the pens and it kept snakes away. I haven't had any in a year or so, so haven't had to try it.
I have a testimony that I will probably share next week about prayer and my chickens. Yes, the Holy Spirit will even speak to you concerning your Chickens.

When I was a child, we went places pretty regularly, for a weekend, or a long vacation. My parent's used to get us on the road for longer trips, like Yosemite, which we went to once to twice a year, at night also. It always seemed normal to me!

I grew up in rice country in Arkansas and was always told that cottonmouths WERE poisonous.

Good luck, I'm glad to not have cottonmouths and we have very few mosquitos.

Life on a ministers budget, well, they didn't get that saying, "Poor as a church mouse" from nothing!
I want to tell lots of things...no time, no time...maybe later on tonight...but I will share them....
Oh, we had a fire across the road last night...got a little scary for a little while...they burn their fields, and a storm blew in...winds were blowing crazy wild! All is well though....
