Which magazine will your story be in and what issue or do you know yet? I cannot wait to purchase a copy. What did the preacher say about you being published? How exciting for you! Gwen I hope this is just the beginning for you. You already have a fan club here.

Hello ya'll,
Been just a little bit busy around the parsonage. In fact, lots busy.
My garden, well, you would think I was raising weeds...finished hoeing the last row just a few minutes ago...waiting on a shower to open up...young'uns are first....sounds like I will be wading water to the bathroom...son is playing with his boats...pretty sure WWIII is occuring.
Daughter is busy in the other, soooo....here I sit with sweaty self.
roll.png

Did I mention I had a lovely trip? I did. Visited, talked, giggled, and worked myself to a frazzle...but I loved every minute of it!
I'm waiting on pictures...the one major problem I did have...I forgot to recharge my batteries, and my children had taken the other set out to put in their gameboy...
Otherwise, I would show you pics...when I can beg some from family...I will post...
I must admit I am amazed, most of the areas in my garden got cotton gin trash, one row did not...there is a noticeable difference.
I'm headed to the cotton gin ASAP!
Not sure when I will be able to sit down an visit with ya'll.... did you know yardsales are work?!
th.gif

Whew...I've crawled under beds, in closets, around the house....(shhhh, don't tell the Rev., he's missing a few things come Saturday!)
wink.png

This week tomatoes are coming off, (from the big fields)we are going early Monday morning and pick. I'm planning on buying about 4, 5 gallon buckets to can. Tomato's, salsa, sauce, may even have time to work in homemade ketsup.
Do ya'll want me to tell you how much I'm getting them for?
tongue.png
Monday I'm supposed to be able to get them for $3 or $4 a 5 gallon bucket. (Sometimes they want you to pick, so we will see)
And then corn (once again, the big fields) is coming off beginning the 21st...that's for a specialized corn, it's called Esau's corn...I've heard you can look it up online....you will never, I mean never taste better, sweeter corn...even from your own garden. I've got an empty freezer waiting on corn and tomatoes. And 2 boxes of Bell and Mason jars waiting for my salsa, diced tomatoes, uhmmm.....
I may be serving the family fried green tomatoes for awhile!
tongue.png

Love fresh veggies. I shuck my corn under the nearest shade tree, which could pose a problem, since there are none! My carport is full of junk....(uh-huh, and not all of it is headed for the yardsale)

Well, who said it was going to be easy? Huh?
I cried like a baby when I saw my nephew coming down the isle. I seem to do that, I cry at the drop of a hat at those sorts of things.
My sisters were dears, I surely enjoy their company. I feel almost lost when we climb in the car, and head back...but duty calls. I try not to be so very selfish, but living in Egypt sometimes it's a little stressful!
Did I mention we drove home Sunday morning? Yes, we pulled up to the parsonage with 20 minutes to spare. Felt slightly out of sorts, but the service's were awesome! They are certainly getting excited about revival. I spoke last night, (no, the Rev. did not fall asleep on me this time, though he did tell me I was alittle long winded
roll.png
)
Friday night is a fellowship meeting, we have to leave early, it's almost and hour and half one way. Expecting several to go with us. Rolling Romeo will be on board, not sure about nervous Nancy.
I think I may crush my selflessness, and be selfish this trip...it's hot, and that air conditioner doesn't work well in the back!
duc.gif

And by the time you get to the 4th row, not much air circulating!
Don't know about any other parts of the country but down here, it can be 80* and seem like 110* due to the humidity! Generally, I open the door, walk down the steps, and have broken out into a hard sweat! Whew!
I have a fan on the chicks. Poor things, I'm wondering about a mister? Supposed to keep areas where you install it at least 15* cooler. If I installed it to the side of the coop...kinda in the shade...
hu.gif
that's a good thought. Need to check that one out.
Well, I've got to get clean. Will write again soon.
Ya'll come, thanks for visiting with me

Hey there Gwen, the pigs are doing fine thank you for asking.
big_smile.png
My dh moved them into the bottom third of the chicken run a couple weeks ago. Now that was a story for you to write...him chasing them in the pen and catching them and carrying them by their feet to their new pen all the while the pigs are screaming. they thought they were on their way to market
th.gif

I finally opened the entire chicken run for them yesterday. You can tell where they are in the high weeds by the chickens flying straight up.
gig.gif
They allow the chickens to eat with them now. I will need to figure out a new place for the run next year
hu.gif
as that would be an awesome place to put in a big garden now.
Pigs got watermelon yesterday for the first time...you would have thought they got candy. they loved it
ya.gif

Can't wait to see your pics of the wedding.

I am showing my lack of southern knowldge here but what is "cotton gin trash" I have never had that problem in my garden, well at least I don't think I have. LOL

Glad ya had such a great time visiting at the wedding.

Hey Hen how come your pigs eat better then my family. We would love watermelon but at $7 for a small one it just isn't going to happen. If ya all didn't live with posion snakes and gators I would move down south LOL

Morning....Ozark, I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall! What a hoot!
lau.gif

I've only had watermelons twice this year, and we didn't have enough room in the garden to plant them...going to hire a farmer to plow up a larger garden spot soon....this ground is tough!
ZooKeeper- I myself, did not know what gin trash was....it is the left-overs when the planters bring in their cotton to have it run through the gin. It spits out the branches, rocks, anything that's not cotton, they pile it in huge piles out back of the cotton gin, and it compost into the most wonderful dirt! When you add it to the ground they call 'buckshot' here, (a hard brown clay), you can actually grow things.
The snakes and gators...well, I've only seen a gator twice, while fishing...didn't really like that too well. Scooted backup onto the bank...the snakes...they are everywhere...not much we can do...
I am going to buy guineas, I do know they will eat snakes. And are good about running the others off, I've heard it was because of the noise they make?
old.gif

Read my last post at the bottom for new information.
Oh, and I get my tomatoes, (they tell me) for $3 or $4 dollars a 5 gallon bucket. (Sometimes $2) We will see.

We pay $3 or $4 a lb for Tomatoes up here. Cheap watermelon and tomatoes well almost makes ya reconcider nope not worth the gators and snakes LOL Congrats on the story will ya let us know when it is up online.

Hello, already hot this morning, sun has been bright with heat since I got up at 5:45. Not to bad muggy yet, but my kitchen is!
hmm.png
Up to my elbows in tomato juice....gotta get back to it. Yardsale went well, and yes my husband talked, and talked (what a surprise...he he he

)
Just wanted to post and let everyone know what was going on around here.
All is well, got my tomatoes yesterday.
PIcked up for some of the church folk too.
My prices were....(I bought in the first full week, prices are higher) when I go back in two weeks I will get the "super cheap prices", (they tell me)

$5 for 25lb box of large Roma tomatoes
$12 for 25lb box of 1st (full sized sandwich mators)
$5 for 25lb box of mixed (some green, orange, & red mators)

I did not have to pick, might later on, but more than happy too.
here's some photo's. My pics make them look orange, but they are a lovely deep red. My little ones came in (after announcing at the tomato farm, they wanted to work there when they were older
roll.png
) climbed up to the table, and soon had juice dripping (we washed them, then just ate several raw, with salt uhmmm)
Anxiously awaiting Esau's corn, can't get mine till next week, we are in revival this week....
HOpe ya'll have a blessed week...will try to get back on soon.
