Life from the Parsonage - A Journal of our Journey.

Life is so precious. Sometimes we take it for granted...we forget it is a gift.

"The past is gone, the future is not yet here, and today is a gift...that's why they call it the present."

Eggs are going along fine...my daughter wanted to candle last night...I just don't do that anymore...glad I did.
She is so interested in every part of the 'chicken world'.
We candled randomly. 10 out of 30....all were fertile, and progressing nicely....our day 18 is the 19th.

Psalms 63

I am glad your daughter is keeping you busy with the eggs...you need some motivation right now.

I am glad I found this thread. I live near Clinton. I read it and can't help but to know so much of what you have gone through. I lost my mother almost exactly 4 years ago. Jan. 3 to heart failure. We lost our home last Feb. to the tornado. You just have to be strong. Sounds like you have a lot of good people surrounding you. It will never stop hurting, but you WILL make it through it. I bet you already know what it took me a long time to learn and that is that God has us in his hand and will take care of us. Even your dad! Remember he is taking care of him, too!

Good Morning from the parsonage!

We are currently watching 8 eggs pip. And the chirping...it is truly wonderful to hear....there is nothing so sweet as babies.

Ozark, I had a good visit. Helped Mom get several things accomplished, plus helped her...she had 8 bulldog puppies, they require every 2 hour feedings...around the clock.

Rebecca- Thank you for your lovely thoughts. That is the only comfort we have, knowing that Daddy is in heaven.

At his funeral, there was just a sea of faces of people he had pastored...can't count the times that folks would come down the line (we were lined up by age) telling us what Daddy ministry meant to them. I'm telling ya'll, this life we live here is so important.

Decided to post a picture of my Dad.

I just noticed something.......... I am now a Golden Feather Member. And I didn't do it. I believe (after checking) that someone has gifted me with this. I would love to be part of the 'select' crowd!

to you.
P.W. what kind of chicks are you hatching? I just hatched 8 out of 10 buff orpingtons.

They are so darned cute! Some of them seem to have red heads,

I just love orps.

I also love bulldog puppies, nothing cuter than a puppy or a chick or any baby animal now is there? Did you take your dogs with you? Did the parson go or did he have to stay and take care of things at home?
My dh may have found a job doing some remodeling in WalMart. They are hiring sixty people to this remodeling but it is a temporary job. He has had to go through a bunch of interviews...for min. wage now mind you..plus the drug test which is ok since he doesn't even smoke. LOL Anyway, he is hoping he gets it as I think he is tired of staying at home.

Hello Friend,

The chicks are RIR...I don't know if they are 'pure' or not.
Just from a farmer down the road. This may sound a little dishonest...I didn't mean it to be...
He sells fresh eggs to eat. The Rev. was talking to him and something about the rooster came up...well, the Rev. bought the eggs for $1.50 for doz. & 1/2
He came home, and told me he thought the eggs were fertile...and yes....this is the result!
How funny is that!
cool.png

I am going to order buffs...I have heard so much about their gentle personalities. Please let me know how you like them...Spring is coming. (I have an update for you...will PM you)
The Rev. went with me....we took the dogs, had a man in our church care for the chickens...and the eggs...

I am very excited for your DH! Maybe one job will turn into 2...
The Rev. is at the hospital right now....a lady in our church is in surgery (breast cancer) she is being an absolute trooper.
She is 79, and carries the nickname..."Lively Lizzie".

None are out of the shell yet. But you can hear them!

Forgot to add: We also sold the puppies this trip....

That was really, really, really hard.
Glad I don't have to do it again.

Perhaps a mix...but if someone recognizes these..I would appreciate it...
I still have more coming, 2 more are out, and 6 more shells are pretty far along....
I don't know how many I have yet...at least 15...

Isn't it cute?

Well the lady in our church came through the surgery with flying colors...she is going to be released today...am making her supper and going to take over there.
Tonight is a rally...and I reckon several folks are going...so...we shall see...
Oh...the Rev. announced he would be driving...that we were going to be 'chauffered'....and everyone starting teasing him saying..."show-fear"...

he didn't think that was too funny...
What a hoot.

So sorry, I just read of your Dads death. I know it is a comfort that he is in heaven but we can't help but miss our loved ones terribly when they are gone. What a wonderful life he led, to minister to so many people.

My Grandpa was also a small town minister. My father was a PK and lived in many different parsonages. You really must give all of yourself for that kind of mistry.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
