Light at the end of a very long tunnel

glad to hear he's better enough to go back, sorry the powers-that-be are being pooheads.

Thanks so much y'all. Your support has meant so much to me (us).

It's great that he is ready to go back to work. If the city has had other people come back to work on light duty, but refuse to allow him to come back in that capacity, there might be cause for a lawsuit. It sounds like they are trying force people to retire. Just be sure to tell him to follow the doctor's orders.

What the chief said was that they had never had an employee on light duty and they weren't about to start with him. When DH retires he will be the first officer in the history of the dept. to do so with a full pension and only the second city employee to do so.

Last night he made the off-handed comment that he might go back to work for two weeks and then put in his retirement papers. He just wants to do it his way. Really the only thing holding him back from retiring is the high cost of private health insurance.
