Light colored yolks

I was originally buying mash from a local feed store. When the egg yolks started getting light. That’s when I switched to purina where I had read that it was good for darkening the yolks. But after 3 months I saw no change. So I thought I would try dumor

Ah I got it. Mine free range so the yolks vary a little bit depending upon what they find.

Do you have other birds laying 'better' colored yolks?

I have 4 other hens. But they’re not laying as of yet. Actually one is laying really small eggs. The yolks are light also

That doesn't look bad to me but I personally don't like my yolks too orangey. Yellow-orange is my goal. Feeding the birds some carrot greens, will help supply carotene to darken the yolks a bit.

I was wondering the same thing. I believe it's also from one of my 2 golden comets. The two top yolks are hers. The others are from one barnyard mix and maybe the other golden comet. I have 12 girls, and most of the other egg yolks are not pale. They are eating Producer's pride layer 16%, and get to have turmeric/cayenne coated soldier fly larvae, oatmeal snacks, garden weeds and trimmings, lots of grass available free range. Any ideas? Maybe she doesn't eat as much grass as the others. I do know she is near the bottom of the pecking order. They are all about 10 months old.
