light in winter

I'm not sure I read your post correctly. :old :idunno... But I will offer opinion on different types of lights.
Christmas lights are just decor value. They will also somewhat help navigate your chickens inside coop at dusk.
The Christmas lights will not do much for egg laying help. I can get into complex explanations how, light affects the chickens'egg laying behavior.
It is not with their eyes that they see the light BTW, that triggers egg production.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and:welcome

I think the original question is whether to use tube lights on the ceiling of the coop on a timer or to use Christmas lights.

If you're wanting to use lights to keep them laying you really need to use a real light bulb, not Christmas lights. You need enough light to be able to read a newspaper in every area of the coop, and it needs to be on for 14-16 hours per day.

In my small coop, I use a LED lightbulb meant for a house lamp (I can't remember what "wattage" they call the LED ones, I think it's equivalent to a 60W) plugged into a timer, in my barn I use LED flood lights plugged into a timer.
