I am sooo disappointed. My isa brown has been laying for weeks and those 3 "whities" - nothing. They are getting fatter by the day. I feed them laying pellets, kitchen scraps and some fallen fruits. Even oats and sultanas as a treat. Have I bought 3 nuns? There is no rooster.

Hang in there. My girls were 6-7 months old when they started laying. I've also got a banty cochin who, at 13 months, has never laid an egg. I gave up on her.

Thank you for the reasurance. I mean I love my girls but would like an occasional offering from them The isa brown was an after thought and I am so grateful to her. BTW, they are all the same age.

Hang in there. We have some start at 18 weeks and others go as long as 30 weeks. You can try the old time method of helping them along by making a corn meal mush (just some corn meal and a bit of water) and put a bunch of red pepper flakes in it and feed it to them. Don't know if it is just coincidence or not but we have done this a few times with some of our late layers and within 2 days they have laid their first egg.

Red pepper flakes!? You mean HOT pepper flakes? These are the only ones I know off. I have a mental picture of those eggs being ejected like the jump seat on a F11!
