He was in the gated community because his dad was visiting his girlfriend who lived there. The kid was not a vagrant, and he was not trespassing. He was walking through a neighborhood, returning to the home he was visiting. He was not even out of place in the neighborhood, which, according to the Miami Herald, is 20% African American. What law enforcement would have kept this kid from being shot? He wasn't trespassing and he wasn't a vagrant. He was walking while black.

Other people's opinions are just that their opinions and if I put one out there that is opposed it does not mean theirs is void unless you assume so. If an opinion is crap I assure you it will be stated so by me (you can find that from previous posts) .

One fact of many is that the kid was trespassing and that can have consequences. Maybe the shooter committed a crime we really don't know yet but we do know the kid was not supposed to be there. For that there is indeed blame.

I have a perimeter fence around my property and if I see someone that does not belong they better have a good excuse to be there and if I feel the need I will approach them armed, the cops are not that quick to respond when I need them to and my guess here is they would have told this guy "Sorry there is nothing we can do about it".

If I do something illegal then I take the risks that come with it whether it is running a stop sign in a parking lot or hit and run.

Like I said respect, respect, respect.

funny how you have "opinions" in quotations.

Are other people's opinions non existent to you?

I also find it funny when you blame the kid for trespassing when you have promoted doing things that are not supported by the law when it supported your case in the past.

This whole thing is like a cliffhanger. I never read that in any of about 3 stories I have read so far on this. Did the boy explain this to the guy? It may have saved his life. When I was 14 I had respect for my elders.

I'll just let the contradiction speak for itself.

He was not trespassing. He was in the neighborhood he was supposed to be in, he had walked to the market to buy skittles and iced tea so he would have them at the house to watch some sort of sports game (I don't know which one).

He was not trespassing...he was returning to a home to which he had been invited. I regularly drive into a nearby gated community, I am not trespassing either.

Trespassing? Vagrancie? What the heck are you talking about!? Haven't you been paying attention? That boy was exactly where he was supposed to be. I would like you to cite ONE RULE that this boy broke. What, he isn't allowed in a gated community becuase he's black, or is wearing a hoodie? Give me a break. Who was he disrespecting by walking to the store to get some skittles? I would say that the disrespect falls not on the kid, but on the wannabe cop who "followed" him and subsequently gunned him down. Your "opinions" are growing tiresome.

If the laws were enforced that are on the books this may have been avoided. What happened to trespassing? vagrancie? These folks that buy into these gated communities do so for a reason.

In all the "opinions" that are flying around about this and that there is one universal truth here... if the poor kid had obeyed the rules and not been in an area that was gated he would not have been in the altercation. Again it is all about respecting others. That is where learning begins.

no, we wouldnt because its so common that it doesnt eve make the national news. Dano Ciccaro,Matt Williams&Diogi, Joe Kaluza..... did anyone protest for them? Back in Youngstown our white neighbor (of ukrainian decent) got beat up by black teens while walking to his friends house. What did the black female cop say"just odnt walk this way then" the white cop just kept mum. I had a all out gang brawl in my front yard over a black teen neighor, took two 911 calls and a hour for the cops to get there. Its no wonder people take things into their own hands.
Edit to add: just weeks ago a local soldier here in Ft Riley was killed while driving in his car by a black man. THere were flyers allover. but he wasnt found. WHERE WAS THE NATIONAL MEDIA? it was just another case....

If he had a hoodie on with the hood up, how would anyone really know your ethnic background.
Of course, we know now. But, I would think it would be kinda hard to tell.
He could of been say, purple.
