Like Button Poll?

Can anyone tell me if there has been a pole done to determine what members use the "like" button for?

I am interested to know if there is a general consensus to its meaning; or if the "like" button is, for want of a better word, "misunderstood".

I personally use the "like" button as a way to confirm that I have read the post and that I have appreciated the content regardless of whether or not I agree with it... but maybe I am using the button incorrectly?
:idunno

...and I use the "love" button to communicate that I really liked the post, lol. If that makes sense?

I have made this following comment on another thread, but I think it appropriate to repeat it here... If the occasion should arise where I find myself looking at a post like a dog with its head tilted to one side - trying to understand, but the information is just not being comprehended - in this case I might not respond due to lack of knowing how. This happens more often than one might think, lol; especially when things become too theoretical for my more creative mind.

As Lazy Farmer said...

[Edited to correct a spelling mistake.]
I generally use the like button on posts that I've read, but if I disagree with a post I don't like it.

I mostly use the like button as a general affirmation or acknowledgement. Sometimes a post doesn’t really need a reply, but I feel a like is validating the poster so they know they are heard and not being passed over.

Of course, I use the like button because I do like the post.

I would like to see a care emoji.
Some of us want a eye roll reaction. Or a facepalm one.

Haha, I want this too sometimes! But then I think of how it either could be misinterpreted (I would definitely over-analyze it, personally), or used harshly, and realize it might be counterproductive to the generally positive discourse this place is known for.

We still have all the emojis, which fill that gap pretty nicely!
