I try to keep mine between 50 and 60, for hatching, between 60 and 70. Someone else says that location makes a difference, and I think this is true. That is what works for me. I am in West Virginia, for what it is worth.
Ok. I have done something rather dumb. I have been struggling to get the humidity up in the LG, with no luck. Well, last night I realized that one of the little windows was slightly off the incubator. It was hard to see, but of course it was increasing ventilation.
I believe the culprit was probably one of my little dogs, although they all are denying it. She probably wanted a small egg snack. If a chick was started, so much the better. Tastier snack.
With the window properly closed, I am getting the humidity up. Mind you, it is still using the troughs full, two little bowls with washcloths in them, and one moist paper towel. But it is going up.
