I have 3 Bibbed Lilac hens in my breeding pens this year. Two 2-year-old hens and one of last year's ladies. I'm breeding them back to their father (he's Self-Black and carrying a single Chocolate dilution), and have hatched a really nice little Self-Chocolate duckling out of them so far this year. I took this photo today, she's 1 week old.

No Self-Lilacs yet though!

What a little darling! Good luck with more lilacs...my lavender/silver bibbed project was nearly wiped out by a coon a while back but I managed to save a pair and had eggs in the bator from the group when it happened so 3 little ones to work with too. They're looking nicer all the time. Just wish I could get or find a couple really nice blue or even black bibbed ducks to add better type and some genetic diversity into the group. Oh and yes...the coop is now looking like FORT KNOX

Hello,
I am new to the duck world and bought 6 calls from 2 breeders this summer. They are finishing their molt and 2 of them I am baffled by their colors. My one female looks like your sweetfolly, solid apricot with a full bib. My other is a male, solid silver color with a bib. How can I tell if he is a lilac or silver? I can send you a picture if you like.

I think photo's would be a really good idea. They sound lovely. I don't have calls, but I think they are the sweetest looking little ducks!

If you were following my project before, I decided to open a new thread the other got clouded with... other stuff...

My lilac hen and my 'lilac' drakes (was unsure about color) from them I did get a few lilac hens, which will be great for next springs breeding program.

Pics are a bit light. (father's are light, original hen is a bit darker)

This hen on the other side has a bit of white eye liner around her eye like her daddy.

Hen 2, has white liner around bill like her daddy. (2 separate fathers)

My splash hens made 100% splash babies with solid white bibs and bodies and speckled heads. So back to the drawing board.

Need to find splash boy... lilac preferred HA HA HA HA
