Lilly's Life:

Chapter 2

Me and Rose started to walk back when we noticed our mom dust bathing, so we went over to say hello.
“Hey,” I started, “mom guess what!?”
She gave me a look like “what did you do this time?”
“Mom…” I said, “I didn’t do anything bad. I stood up for myself today… in front of Ginger!” I smiled big and proud.
“Lilly!” she exclaimed, “I don’t want you near her! She is a big hen and can hurt you! Don’t go near her. Got. It?”
I rolled my eyes at her and walked away, but Rose stayed with mom.
How come she wasn’t proud of me? Why didn’t she say something like “Wow! Really? I’m so proud of you!” I sighed and trotted off under the nice pine tree again. No one was there yet so I got it to myself for some thinking time.
I started to dose off when Ginger came by and gave me a disgusted look.
“Gorilla! Get out of my way before you’ll regret it!” She narrowed her eyes at me.
I was too tired to fight so all I said was: “Fine, but my name is Lilly.” Then I moved and walked away towards the coop. I could feel her eyes peering right through my back. I took a quick glance back and she was coming after me! My eyes went big and I ran and flew up to a high elevation.
“Last warning gorilla! Stay away or I’m coming after you!” She screeched and walked back to the pine tree.
I wasn’t scared of her… but then again I wonder why I ran from her when I could have stayed and fight. I flew down graciously; landing perfectly on my feet.
When I got back to the coop I was sweating buckets. I don’t know why. It’s like 50 out. It was cold. I decided to just chill in the hen house and lay in one of the boxes. My eyes were really heavy, I couldn’t keep them open. So I just fell to sleep.

“Hey Lils! Wake up.” Some familiar voice was saying to me.
My eyes could barely flutter open.
“Oh my gosh mom! She looks horrible!”
I looked around and everything was all blurry, but there was two hens standing in front of me.
“Lilly, dear. Wake up. It’s mom.”
I tried to speak. “Mo— wait, I thin—. What?”
What was I saying?
“Wake up!”
Then all the sudden I shot my eyes open and I was still sweating like crazy. I was wheezing and sneezing. I couldn’t stand up right.
Then everything went black.
