Chapter 16

It was a couple days later and I still didn’t get to see Rose yet. I decided to go find Lacy. I haven’t talked to her in forever! I first saw my mom and asked her where Lacy went and she didn’t know. Then I trotted off looking around some more.
“Lacy?” I called out, “Lacy!?”
“Lilly?” I heard a familiar voice call my name. Was it Lacy?
“Lacy?” I asked the voice and looked around.
Then something popped out of the bushes, “Lilly!” It was Lacy!
“Lacy! Oh my gosh, I haven’t talked to you in forever! We need to catch up on some things!”
“I thought you didn’t like me anymore.” Lacy said.
I was confused, “No I love you! I miss you!”
“But Rose said….”
“Wow! Rose? Why would you believe what Rose says?” I asked her shocked.
“I don’t know… maybe I shouldn’t have. Oh well. Let’s go hang out!” I sighed, thank the Lord.
We went off towards the pine tree. It was almost time to roost so we didn’t get much time to talk.
“So Lacy, how was everything when I was gone?”
“It was… weird without you.” She said, “Oh guess what, Lilly!?”
“What?” I asked.
“I think the humans are adding more to the flock!” She grinned and jumped up and down, “I hope one is a boy!”
I laughed, oh Lacy was always like this! Always wanting boys. But that’s why I love her!
“Lacy,” I started, “wow, I love you.”
She smiled and still jumped up and down.
“Come on, we should go up to roost. Come inside the hen house with me and my mom this time. I’m sure Jaz will accept you.”
She agreed and everyone was already roosting. But this time my dad and mom were outside. I shrugged.
“We can still go inside Lace.” I told Lacy.
She nodded and followed me.
“Hey Jaz! You don’t mind if Lacy comes sleep in here tonight do you?”
“Nah, it’s fine.”
I turned to Lacy, “Told chu.”
She rolled her eyes and we hopped up to a pole and slept on it, side by side.
