Lilly's Life:

Chapter 17

I woke up from the sun pinching through the window. Lacy was still sound asleep, so I quietly hobbled off the pole and out of the hen house. I ate and drank and waited for the gate to open. I looked around, dad and mom were awake but were still up in their roosting spots.
“Mommy! Daddy!” I said to them.
“Shhh!” dad said back.
I mouthed the word “sorry” and turned around a bit embarrassed. Some chickens actually woke up from me. Oops.
I saw the girl coming down to the coop and got excited. I hope to see Rose today! I actually really miss her! Once the gate was open I shot out of the coop and raced towards the human house. I waited for that door to open and see Rose all healthy and beautiful as usual. Then I heard someone behind me. It was the human girl.
“Hey Lilly!” She grinned, “Looking for your buddy? Don’t worry she’s in good hands!”
I jumped up and down. Rose is really ok!? My eyes went big and I raced back to the coop to tell mom and dad.
“MOM! DAD!” I didn’t care to be quiet anymore because everyone was awake.
“What is it, Hun?” Mom asked me.
“It’s Rose!” I was out of breath. When I finally got my breath back I spoke, “Rose is ok! The human said she was in good hands! Rose is ok, mom!”
Mom’s eyes were sparkling and she grinned, a huge one! “Are you serious!” She was giddy now.
I nodded and smiled. She did a little dance and all I could do was laugh and dance with her. Everything was going to be alright now! When we were done we were still giggling. Even my dad was dancing around and laughing with us.
“I’m so happy!” Mom threw her wings around me and hugged me then ushered dad to join in. “Come on Matt! Join in!” He did and we were all hugging each other. When we released we heard a scream.
