Lilly's Life

Chapter 15

We got to the coop and Jaz was waiting for us and Rose wasn’t on his back anymore.
“What happened?” I asked him right away.
“I went up to the human house and crowed and someone came out and noticed Rose and took her in right away. I’m surprised they actually listened to me!” Jaz said.
I nodded my head and sighed. I wonder what happened to her. I wonder if she’ll live….
“Hun,” my mom started to say, “let’s go rest for now.” Her eyes were all wet from tears.
We went over to the pine tree and sat down. We sat there in silence for several moments. Then my dad spoke up.
“Girls, don’t over-react. Ok? The humans will help her.”
“But,” my mom was saying, “Matt, it won’t be ok! This is happening all over again! First Emma now my own daughter! Why are all the bad things happening to me!”
Dad comforted her with his wing, “Just trust me, honey.” Mom started to cry even more now.
“Mom,” I said, “she’ll be alright. When I was in there they made me all better!”
Mom didn’t speak. She just sat there crying and leaning on my dad.
“I’ll leave you two alone….” I said to them.
They didn’t argue so I trotted off wanting to run away forever. I couldn’t take this! I went straight behind the coop and plopped down to cry. I just wanted to be alone.
“Ew!” I heard someone say, “it’s you!”
It was Ginger… I didn’t even hear her come up behind me. I must have been crying to loudly.
“Why are you crying you weak, pathetic fool!?” Ginger and her two other friends laughed together.
“Go away Ginger! I’m so not in the mood!”
“Awww is baby sad?” She laughed again.
I grimaced at her. She disgusted me! She is so mean! She doesn’t have a nice bone in her body!
“Just walk away Ginger.”
“You can’t tell me what to do gorilla!”
“Fine.” I simply said, “then I’ll walk away.”
“Ha ha! Ya cause you’re scared of me!” Then she laughed once more. I didn’t even bother fight with her today. I just trotted off into the weeds, trying to forget what just happened.
