Lilly's Life:

Chapter 27

“Rose!” I screamed once more. “Rose! I missed you!”
Rose looked up, “Lilly?”
“It’s me Rose! Yes! Lilly!” I was so happy I was jumping everywhere.
“Lil! Guess what!? She’s taking me out tomorrow! I have healed!” She exclaimed.
“Yay!” I did a little dance, “I’m so happy!” Wait… Lacy. I stopped jumping around and dancing. I frowned ad looked over to the girl working on Lacy.
“There you go girl! All patched up!” The girl smiled and held Lacy in her hands. Lacy was pale and looked exhausted. “You’ll be ok.” She was petting her now, “Mom will get the stuff you need.” She grinned at Lacy while still holding her. I looked back at Rose.
“Something wrong, Lil?” Rose asked me.
“I-uh-well, yeah….” I finished.
“Well what’s wrong!?”
“Lacy. She-uh-she is here in this room and she’s hurt.”
“Aw Lilly, if I was right next to you, I’d give you the biggest hug ever!” Rose smiled big.
I grinned a little and a tear rolled down my face, “Thank you Rose.”
“Lil, don’t cry….”
I whipped my tear away, “I-I’m not crying. Ha, what are you talking about.” I turned away to avoid eye contact with her. I looked at the girl again. She wasn’t facing me.
“Jessie! Jessie! I got the stuff!” I heard a voice call out somewhere else.
The girl looked to the door, “Good!” The woman came into the room and gave the girl something weird looking. Like a bag.
The woman looked at me, “And don’t forget her.” She nodded towards me.
“I won't, mom.” She chuckled a little and took Lacy into Rose's box. I flew down to the floor before they did that. Then the girl took the bag poored some of it into a water container and put it in the box. She then took Rose out. “Hey there girl. Guess you can go out tonight!” She grinned.
No way! Rose can come out tonight! Even better!
When the humans walked away from the box, I flew back on top of it and looked in. Lacy was drinking the water but very weakly. “Lace?” I asked her.
Lacy’s shaking head looked up at me. Her eyes were sad and gray. The color was drained from her face.
“Lace….” There was a knot in my throat and I could barely speak but I forced myself. “Lacy, please get better soon. I love you Lace.”
Lacy grinned weakly. And I grinned back.
“Alright girl, come with me.” The girl said.
I looked at Lacy one more time and hopped off the box and followed the human out the door.
