Lilly's Life:
Chapter 32
The wind swirled around me, bringing me right then left then right. I ended up landing wrong but I still landed where I wanted to; on top of the coop. I went all the way to the other side so the coon couldnt find me, plus I was under a thick tree branch. I heard a bunch of clucks.
Guys?! I yelled but it seemed like it was lost in the snow. I yelled even louder now, HELLO!? MOM? DAD?
Lilly? I heard my dad shout.
Daddy! Help me! The raccoon locked me out of the coop and now Im on top of the coop. Help please, Daddy! Im scared! I started to shiver more.
Dont worry honey! I will help you! I saw him jump from his roost and to the gate door.
I looked around me for the coon. It was nowhere to be seen. I looked back at dad. He was examining the door, trying to find a way to open it. I saw him turn around and frown. Then he headed in the hen house. A few moments later dad brought out Jaz and I saw them talk and squint from snow hitting their eyes.
They went over to the door and both examined it. Then I saw Jaz fly up to the top of the hatch and tried to lift it while dad grabbed the bottom with his feet and tried to push it up. They struggled for several minutes but finally got it up all the way. The door swung open and I flew down from the coop roof. I entered the coop and went into the hen house. When I got in Jaz and dad closed the door and flew back to their roosts.
I still shivered even under the nice, warm heat lamp. I looked at Jaz, Wh-wheres Rose? I managed to say.
I dont know. Maybe shes by your mom and dad.
B-but I saw h-her outside trying to l-look for you guys and w-warn you guys about the snow. I hugged myself and rubbed.
Jaz went over to me and hugged me with his warm body, She could have just found shelter then. I dont know, kiddo. He half smiled and hugged me more which made me warm. Just think on the bright side.
I sighed, Fine. Can I go to sleep though?
Of course! He grinned and let me go. To be honest I didnt want him to let go. I was still a bit chilly but I heated up good.
I went to my roost, as far away from the other hens, and slept very well.
