The Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia!
I have 3 pairs of peafowl and they all live in the same enclosure and get along great....
my question....with mating season coming up, will they continue to get along?
The peacocks have picked their hens....(but one pair the peacock is too young to mate)....
all Indian Blues except for one Black Shoulder Indian Blue...

also have 3 free range peacocks that seem so jealous of their penned friends...

???? any thoughts ??

mine are not penned but they spar with each other this time of year and i have 5 breeding age males.
They can get away and hide if things get to rough but in a penned setting i do not know how they would get away from each other,
There are lots of folks here with penned birds mabe they can chime in and tell you their experiences.

Lot's of separate pens and only one breeding age male per pen. I do have a couple Bachelors who have been raised together and have never been with a hen, these guys( no more than 2 together) do okay, but they can get a little _itchy with each other during the breeding season. Back in the day when I free ranged and only had a handful of peas I had a mature male corner a younger 3 yr old male in a run-in shed, he almost killed him. It wasn't that he actually injured him that badly, it was the stress of being cornered and repeatedly jumped on plus it was July and probably 100 degrees in that shed. Now I try to keep the older guys separated.

Last year with a four year old peacock, two 2 year old peacocks, and a yearling peacock along with several peahens (more than males) in a 40x50 ft pen with some added attachments I still saw some fighting. The 2 year olds picked on each other but the adult peacock picked on one of the two year olds a lot. so much so that he made the back of his head bloody and I seperated them for a while. this year now that those two year olds are adults I am soon going to be rushing to finish their new pens. I don't want to chance it with the boys. sometimes I would find one of the younger boys trapped in a dog box with the adult peacock guarding the exit and in the hot summer the dog boxes can get very warm. the goal is to get all the peahens and establish your own display territory. my oldest peacock got mad at a younger one just because he was displaying for me and he jumped on him. I am writting this before class so I will add more later if I think of something else.

thanks MinxFox...

I have a 4 year old, a 2 year old and a 5 month old.. all.peacocks...
3 peahens all 2 year olds...
their enclosure has hiding areas fixed up for them....many perches
and is squared off at only about 25 x 25...possibly 30 x 30....
guess I need to do some building then!
