Limited to two auctions????

i love the BYC and hate to do this but if i can only list 5 open listings at a time YOU HAVE JUST FORCED ME TO SELL MY EGGS ON EBAY i know it was not your wish to leave the auctions of but mabee that should have been looked at more because it was a VALUBLE AND VERRY VERRY INPORTANT PART OF THE BYC as a buyer would you whant to look though a long list of breeds trying to find the one breed your looking for ?? and them not see anny pics because there are WAY TO MANNY BREEDS listed on that listing ?? no you would not and you would simply look on ebay where you can clealy see each breed listed seperatly . As a seller would you whant your buyers to have to hunt through LONG list of breeds or not even look because they think you don't have what they are looking for . then be forced to only have 5 listing

. again i know it was not your wish but it is going to drive away alot of members both sellers and buyers i hate to beet the bush here but we keep getting the felling that this is not a major deal to you but i garentee to those sellers and buyer both this is a MAJOR DEAL can we at leest give you GFM and PPM more listings only giving a GFM 2 listings they can't even list one listing in each section and i know a lot of loyal and outstaning members that need to list more than 2 listing .and by giving the PPM only 5 listing a lot of your PPM became PPM for the eaxtra listing and upload space

just an FYI Im a father of 4 childeren work a full time job and raze chickens full time to help provide for my family times are not easy right now my feed bill is over 180$ a week i MUST sell hatching eggs to ofset this i know this is not your problem but by ristricting the # of listings you make it that much harder for me to make ends meet as a paying supporter of the BYC even thought it is a small contrabution it is a contrabution and if you just sweep this under the rug you will be driving me and o lot of other outstanding members away i beg you to reconsider the # of listings you alow your members to list

Those of you that listed many breeds, did you have multiple listings and were re-listing them every week?

A reminder: It wasn't our choice to leave off full auction support. It wasn't an option and unfortunately won't be for a while. We're just as unhappy as everybody, but we were forced to make some concessions to improve the other areas of the site. We do want to add full auction support back.

Approximately when do you expect "full auction support back"?

You do realize what ebay will cost you to list all of those auctions, don't you? If you think listing on ebay is a better option for you, then do it. What is wrong with just listing a classified here, and listing the breeds you have available? I know not having the actual auctions is making people unhappy, but actually, how it is now, makes it much easier to just list as much as you want in an easy format. People can just PM you with what they want. What is so difficult about that? Its only as big of an inconvenience as you make it. Ive just got one listing at a set price, and already have orders thru the end of the month.

aperantly you are not aware that you CAN'T list as much as you whant you as a GFM can ONLY LIST 2 CLASSIFIEDS witch is fine if you don't have that manny breeds to list

I expect potential buyers will recognize this and bid accordingly, but I don't want to make assumptions and set prices outright at a rate beyond expectation.

That is the point! Not the number of listing. Number of listing could be changed easily. It's the format that is wrong.

This will likely push me to list at the dreaded ebay again, but I'll still have lists to describe my offerings on my profile page.

I absolutely agree with Chook and banjoe - the auction section should have been given more thought, horrible new set-up!!!! For many byc was a place to earn feed $ and extra income and now unfortunately many are and will be looking for other places to post. I too will be posting on other sites as well as ebay. (though I'm sure the other sell/auction sites thank you!) As a buyer I sure don't want to have to search thru someones "list" for what I am looking for, it's bad enough there is all these extra very unneeded ads and clips all over the place to deal with and then you want buyers to have to search thru lists???? Definitely not buyer/seller friendly at all. I think many who have a gfm or ppm have it because they used the auction area, now with the limit why even have it??? Not worth the $$. A very disappointing new BYC.

Maybe there can be a temporary bend in the rules of posting until the auction support can be upgraded? For example, perhaps BYC can allow people to post their eggs and other items for sale JUST FOR THE TIME BEING under another thread, not an auction or sales thread, but just maybe in another section. Then a person with eggs for sale might could possibly make a posting listing what eggs will be available in the coming weeks or something similar, and people can just contact the poster directly and make them an offer on the eggs. I know it's not the BEST thing and isn't really an "auction", but it might help people who are members here still be able to sell their eggs and other wares on the site without chasing off valuable users that generate revenue for BYC with their PPM and GFM. I know it's not really an auction, so bids can't be made, but it's better to sell them SOME way than having your eggs pile up in your collection baskets, no?

Just a thought.. hopefully it'll all work out.

Looks to me (as a buyer) that the only way things will work with multiple breeds per listing is to have fixed prices.

This is totally fine for buyers at least - I can see it is not so good for rare items as chooks said.
Auction style bidding when multiple breeds are offered in one listing will be a total mess. It is made worse when people chat or even ask legitimate questions. At least with the pre-auction system of several years ago each offering could be separated out.

Maybe until a new auction system is instigated there should be (just some suggestions):
Firstly a well defined format at the start of the listing stating:
1. What is for sale
2. How many of it
3. Start price with defined end date, or fixed price
4. Then details, pics etc

This way readers know the basics of what is for sale

Secondly: limit all listings to 1 week max. This allows buyers to know when the "auction" items are ending.

Thirdly: list items chronologically OR even better in ending soonest as before

Some people take advantage of any system and continually bump their item with additions of "how things are packed" etc or "chat" after the item is listed. The current system encourages this.

OR finally : just allow a separate limited time listing for different egg/whatever types
